Race 2 - 10/05/09
Posted By admin on May 10, 2009
Following a week of strong winds the day started with 1 knot of south easterly breeze and blue sky making some happy and others extremely frustrated with these soft conditions. At the gun the Stratos was first away closely followed by the Delta of John Qualtrough, the Fulmar of Mike Pollard and the 1 design of John Qualtrough snr, the remaing 7 boats all started to spread into a wide line following these four as the shifting winds gave some knocks and others headers. Rounding the Buoy first was the Delta, then the Stratos but Mike Pollard seemed to suffer from a shifting/dying wind struggling to round and was hunted down by the 1 design who overtook on the next leg to the Sandwick mark. This remained the order until the OOD called a shortened race due to easing winds which proved to be the sensible call with over an hour between the first and last finisher. Results are posted on the results page and pictures from todays race will be uploaded later.
Thanks to OOD Mike Williams and Tony Sloane for bridge duties.
