Race 6 - Sunday 21st June

Definite change of day with a gentle SW dropping to a non existant SW compared to the previous days single handed race. Again a poor turnout of only 7 boats, 4 Castletown 1 designs, the Fulmar, Leisure 17 and Laser II, it looks like the majority of CDMYC sailers are not morning people. Unfortunately missed this race and can’t give a commentary but well done Ben in the Laser II taking line honours but taking a big thumping on handicap.
The first four were all 1 designs and the usual suspect, Brian in Amy took the win, very closely followed by Peter in Joan, JQ snr in Wildwave and the last of the 1’s Mike in Raven. Jim was 5th in Fiesta and poor old Ben was relegated to 6th after the handicap was applied.
Rumours abound of a bit of a handbags battle at the last mark with Peter and Brian jostling for the finish line with Peter being heard to say push him away, not bad when you consider these guy’s are in their 70’s. Who says the 1 Design’s aren’t competitive with only 66 seconds separating the first four boats it must have been “interesting” coming down the final leg.
