Cruiser handicap changes - thanks to MJK

Posted By admin on April 1, 2010

With subtle changes in RYA handicaps and adjustments being made for IOMYC boats it looks easier to adapt our cruiser handicaps to match.  Ultimately this means the cruiser handicap used for CDMYC races is also the one which can be used for IOMYC races.  Let’s face it if we do get a nice Summer it may be worth taking the fight to the Spaniards on a nice Saturday afternoon.  I’ll try and get their cruiser fixtures and add then to the calendar.

The changes are as follows, again thanks to Mick Kneale and reproduced without his consent!

Polly is changing his W.Fulmar from fixed back to folding prop. The standard Fulmar recorded number is 1016 (folding prop) + no spi adds 4% = 1057.
W. Centaur standard recorded number is now 1210 (3-blade fixed prop) +no kite add 4% = 1258.

One other suggestion:- There is a small difference in the Sonata fin versus lift-keel version 1038/1053.  I would apply the same variation to the lift-keel Hunter Deltas so 1008 (fin) becomes 1023 (lift-keel) and if no spi, add 4% = 1064.

(If JQ.jnr enters the Round Mann race, I’ll give him 1023 as he carries a kite.)

To ensure a level field for the cruisers other changes of +4% have been applied to W Pageant & Jaguar.  Jury still out on the Hurley’s.  Leisure 17 is rumoured to have a kite this season so H’c remains.
