Next Race 2nd May

Posted By admin on April 25, 2010

As the time ticks by there’s still a slow show from the majority of the COD’s and Mike in Raven could bank a few more points for the one design trophy.  Serious rumours are being heard that JQ jnr. will finally have Dilemma fully kitted out and raring to go for a head to head with Rupert Bear, proper one design racing at last!   No news if Tom’s recovered from cutting a lump off his finger in the last race but the H&SE are rumoured to be inspecting the boat to see if it poses a risk to anyone else.  Jim has Fiesta ready and we could see the unveiling of his new cruising chute if the conditions are favourable.  Hopefully we’ll have another good turnout from the Spanish Main to defend their first race results of line honours and first and second boats on handicap .  Defintely one nil to the away team.  Now there’s a thought for the racing committee, a team race?

Start time next Sunday is 13:30 and to clarify for some of the Spaniards (it’s a translation thing) the start sequence is as follows;

Audible warnings (usually, but not restricted to a hooter) at 10 minutes, 5 minutes and start.  One large orange board displayed at 5 minutes, 2 large orange boards displayed at start.  Standard course is Triangle, Sausage, Triangle, refer to racing marks tab on the home page for the course.  If sailing conditons are good the OOD may decide an additional Triangle will be sailed and this will be signalled by a large green disc being displayed on the Pier.  But anything could happen next Sunday as we’ve a change of OOD with Rexxie in full control (bribes can be given on any evening between 18:00 - 20:30 in the Glue Pot)

SI’s are broadly based on the standard RYA one’s.

  1. Jim Edge says:

    I caught the end of the last race (as in i arrived late to watch proceedings after finishing my course early. rather then a heroic charge on the water.) Mike was flying along in his 18.
    I just want to say that I will be missing the second race as well, I am aboard “Cheetah Cub” as additional ballast for the Round Island on Sunday, Forcast 4-5 so should be exciting racing, Hopefully myself and the new Kite will make a debut on the 16th

    Good luck
